Everyone already knows that Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) exaggerates his verbiage, but this week he outdid himself in trying to contain the public security crisis that has been plaguing the state in recent days. In an attempt to put out the fires he created, Jerônimo ended up throwing more gasoline on the fire. In the interviews he gave, he compared the wave of violence to a “little flu” and even shared the blame for the crisis with President Lula (PT), stating that there are actions that depend on the Union. “It’s Lula’s responsibility, I voted for him , but I’m demanding it from him”, said Jerônimo. The “little flu” earned Jerônimo a comparison with former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who used the term to refer to Covid-19 and suffered harsh rebuke from all sides.
On social media, people did not forgive Jerônimo’s statement about the “little flu” of violence. “This flu has already turned into pneumonia,” said an Instagram user on a news website page. “So my neighborhood has the flu”, joked another. One internet user was more emphatic: “What a lack of sense with all the bereaved families in Bahia who once lost a loved one due to violence in Bahia”. Another concluded: “In 2 years we will give him the syrup.”
Not even Governor Jerônimo’s most faithful allies, in politics and communication, were able to disguise their discomfort in hearing the episode narrated by the governor himself who tried, unsuccessfully, to speak by phone with Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil). Days ago, the governor of Goiás refuted a speech in which Jerônimo listed the neighboring state as one of the most violent in the country. And even more, he even suggested taking control of public security in Bahia for six months, since the governor has failed in his mission. For the leadership of the “Jeronistas”, the Bahian governor showed weakness.
And anyone who thinks it stopped there is wrong. Still in the interviews, Jerônimo admitted that he persecutes anyone who is not an ally of the PT, when he stated that, for Feira de Santana, he would “put money in more intensely” if federal deputy Zé Neto (PT) had won the dispute. Finally, he said he asked for a qualitative assessment to understand the vote in large and medium-sized centers, where the government had resounding defeats. Perhaps, if the governor looked more at the state’s serious problems and sought to resolve them, he would understand the message at the polls.
The growth of Jerônimo’s poor evaluation has caused the governor to disappear from the campaign of his candidate in Camaçari, Luiz Caetano (PT), in this second round. On Caetano’s social networks, none of the first publications have photos with the governor. It is possible to see images of Lula, minister Rui Costa and senator Jaques Wagner, all from the PT, but nothing of Jerônimo.
Speaking of Caetano, the PT member now seems to want to hide his past and has adopted a strategy of judicializing absolutely everything that appears in the electoral propaganda of his opponent, Flávio Matos (União Brasil), against him. The problem is that he cannot erase the memory of the people, who remember very well the images of his arrest by the Federal Police and that he kept money in shoe boxes. Not to mention the multiple convictions for irregularities in his administration in the municipality.
Lauro de Freitas’ PT group decided to follow former president Jair Bolsonaro’s guide and wants to question the result of the election, which ended with Débora Regis (União Brasil) winning by more than 20 thousand votes over Antonio Rosalvo (PT) , supported by Mayor Moema Gramacho (PT). Not satisfied with the result, the PT coalition went to the Electoral Court to request all the minutes of the voting stations and the image files of the ballots, among other documents, to support a possible request for a recount of votes. This concept of democracy that the PT claims to defend is really very curious!
Three government deputies have a price on their heads because they failed badly at the moment the government needed them most. This week, the government leader in the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (Alba), Rosemberg Pinto (PT), mobilized the troops to approve two loan requests from governor Jerônimo Rodrigues that exceeded R$ 1.5 billion, but at the time H was only missing one name to guarantee a quorum within the committees in the plenary, as the project was being voted on urgently. As none of the three answered the phone or responded to messages, the government base had to retreat. From what we hear behind the scenes, Jerônimo wrote down the names in the notebook and the invoice will certainly arrive for the trio of absentees.
The beating suffered by vice-governor Geraldo Júnior (MDB) in Salvador was even more devastating than one might think. If he had contested the election in Feira de Santana, which has almost 5 times fewer voters than in Salvador, the emedebista would have come in third place with just over 137 thousand votes received in the election, behind Zé Ronaldo (União Brasil) and Zé Neto (PT). In Vitória da Conquista, which has almost 8 times fewer voters than the capital, Geraldo was almost surpassed by the number of votes of the re-elected mayor Sheila Lemos (União Brasil), who had more than 116 thousand votes.
The government leader in the Legislative Assembly, Rosemberg Pinto (PT), has not yet swallowed the defeats suffered in this year’s elections in the Middle Southwest region, especially in his own homeland, Itororó. There, his candidate, Dr. Luciana (PT), lost to Dr. Adauto (Avante), which had the support of the mayor of Itapetinga, Rodrigo Hagge (MDB). In Itapetinga, Rosemberg also bet big on the duo Cida Moura (PSD) and João de Deus (PT), whose ticket had the support of the main PSD chiefs in the state and governor Jerônimo Rodrigues and was defeated by Eduardo Hagge (MDB), uncle and Rodrigo’s political godson. Rosemberg has been shouting from all corners complaining about the defeats.
The management of TV Assembleia Legislativa was shocked to see the energetic reaction of the opposition bench against the partisan use of the public broadcaster in favor of the political interests of the PT, which holds the nomination for leadership positions. On Monday, following an order that “came from above”, TV Alba broadcast in full on two news programs a statement in which Governor Jerônimo attacked the free expression of the opposition, in a frank artillery of censorship. Biased practice can cost the artisans of manipulation dearly.
What was supposed to be an alignment meeting with the head of the state’s Institutional Relations Secretariat (Serin), Jonival Lucas, ended up turning into a real washing of dirty laundry against Jerônimo. At the table, party leaders from the Legislative Assembly voiced numerous political and administrative complaints against the PT member, including a certain unwillingness on the part of the Governorship to welcome mayors brought by parliamentarians, in addition to the delay in meeting demands considered simple. It would be bad enough if it stayed this far, but the scariest part of the meeting was hearing that the deputies were rehearsing to make a list of complaints to former governors Jaques Wagner and Rui Costa, in the hope that they could intervene in the direction of Jerônimo’s administration. .
