Maria Carol Rebello, brother of former child actor and music producer João Rebello, had spoken to her brother moments before the crime. During her participation in the Encontro program this Monday (28), she told how she found out about the crime.

“I had just spoken to my brother in the afternoon, my mother had just talked to him for hours. I got out of the shower and had a message from my sister-in-law. That thing about someone who has a slightly more refined sensitivity, I imagined that it was something that had happened to my brother. But I imagined an accident, I imagined anything but what happened. It’s very difficult to believe that this is happening”, he said.

She also spoke about the crime investigation. “It’s very delicate for me to say this, because it was a very brutal crime, right? My brother wasn’t robbed and shot. My brother was brutally executed. So it’s very difficult to say anything in this line of investigation. The civil police are there investigating. Personally, I find everything very slow, very confusing, but I can’t speak”, he highlighted.

Maria highlighted that her brother was well-liked in Trancoso, and that he had fulfilled his dream of going to live in the district he had known since childhood. “My brother decided to make his dream of living there come true, he chose his land, built his house and was there doing what he knew how to do, which is art, spreading art, music and a lot of creativity”, he said.

“It feels like we’re like this, floating, it feels like it’s a nightmare, it feels like at any moment you’re going to wake up and see that it’s not true”, he lamented.

Maria Carol paid tribute to him on social media, this Monday (28). She published a video that brings together photos and videos of her brother’s life from childhood to adulthood.

In the images, João appears alongside friends and family, and also during the TV Globo soap operas in which he acted. He currently worked as a music producer and DJ and signed as Vunje.

In the caption of the post, Maria Carol spoke about faith. “May your guides and our ancestry of light receive you and guide you, my brother?. We always knew and talked a lot about how powerful this journey is. You always sought evolution and understanding and I stay here with the certainty that you are on the path , and your path is light! pure light!”, he wrote.

The delegate responsible for the investigation into the death of João Rebello Fernandes reported this Saturday (26) that so far he has ruled out the possibility of the former child actor’s involvement in criminal activities. In a note signed by delegate Bruno Barreto Garcia, from Trancoso, he adds that the work to arrest those responsible continues.

“The line of investigation has led to the impossibility of any involvement of the victim in criminal activity. With deep respect for the victim and his family, we are committed to transferring the information”, says the note signed by the delegate. The police “have been adopting all applicable legal measures in investigating the circumstances, as well as the authorship of the crime”, says the police chief.

João, who was 45 years old, was shot dead in his car last Thursday night, in Trancoso, district of Porto Seguro, in the Far South of Bahia. Witnesses told the police that he was parking near Praça da Independência when two men arrived on a motorcycle and fired shots. He died instantly.
