The story takes place in a hotel, situated on the rocks of the Amalfi Coast, which remains empty pending renovations for the next tourist season. Its owner, Gabriella, divorced, who has just turned 60, lives most of her days alone. Until she falls in love with an attractive and much younger man, the heartthrob Elia. However, who really is this man? Is he there out of love, or is he just an opportunist?

Treacherous Love is not a series based on a true story. However, the plot is the Italian remake of a British miniseries released in 2019 by the BBC called The Love Coup, starring Julia Ormond (Legends of the Passion) and Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone), which is the same premise as the remake.

Denise Capezza is Marina, Elia’s ex-girlfriend who tries to win back the heartthrob now that he is dating another woman. Dharma Mangia Woods is Giulia, Gabriella’s daughter. Francesco Del Gaudiovive plays Nico, another son of the protagonist who is disgusted by the romance. Actor Geppy Gleijeses is Mario, Gabriella’s ex-husband.

The photography of Amor Traiçoeiro is a show in itself. The series was recorded in Sorrento, located on the Amalfi Coast, in Italy, and was the main filming location for the series due to the beautiful view of the sea and mountains in the background. The plot also had locations in Marina Grande, the main port on the island of Capri.
