The Ipitanga waterfront, located in Lauro de Freitas, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, will undergo revitalization works. The project will cost around R$15 million and includes improvements to the region’s infrastructure, which will include new lighting, tents and areas for sports.
According to the city hall, the work aims to revitalize the neighborhood’s waterfront, making it safer and more attractive for residents and tourists, as well as generating income for local businesses. New lighting, selective waste collection and a sewage treatment plant are planned, in addition to 15 tents distributed in modules.
The waterfront will also feature new sets of restrooms, kiosks, lifeguards, gym areas, multi-sports court, skate park, accessible sidewalk, children’s playground, bike path and parking lots. The Service Order for the start of work was signed last Tuesday (22) by Mayor Moema Gramacho.
Having worked there for over 30 years, trader Guimar Carvalho, 58, celebrated the signing. “This work is going to improve. We will work in a place with the best, most modern and sustainable infrastructure, in addition to attracting more visitors to discover this paradise called Ipitanga. So, given this, we have positive expectations for this transformation that will change our history”, he said.
