The driver of the other watercraft suffered minor injuries

A collision between two jet skis caused the death of one of the drivers, on Friday night, the 15th, on a beach in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo. The accident happened near the Rocket Club marina, in the Japuí neighborhood. The jet ski piloted by digital influencer João Vitor dos Santos Chagas, aged 22, was heading out to sea and ended up colliding with another, which was coming in the opposite direction. He was rescued, but he didn’t survive. The police will investigate the accident.

According to the 6th Marine Fire Brigade (GBMar), firefighters were called at 8:53 pm to respond to a vessel collision. When the team arrived at the scene, the victim had already been removed from the sea and was in cardiorespiratory arrest. The medical team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) performed resuscitation maneuvers and took the victim to the São Vicente Central Emergency Room.

In a statement, the city hall reported that the victim was admitted with severe head trauma. Death was confirmed upon arrival at the urgency and emergency unit.

The driver of the other watercraft involved in the accident had minor injuries and did not require medical attention. According to the incident report, he told the Military Police that he was returning to dry land to store the vehicle when he was surprised by the arrival of the other jet ski. According to the man, whose name was not released by police, a couple who arrived on another watercraft helped him help João Vitor.

The police requested expertise on both motorcycles. The case was registered as culpable homicide (without intent to kill) at the São Vicente Police Station. The victim’s body was sent for autopsy at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).

João Vitor was known in the region for his work as a digital influencer, under the name ‘João Beckman’. He had 65 thousand followers on his social network. The boy posted photos of trips and events. João Vitor’s wake will take place this Sunday, 27th, and the burial is scheduled for 10 am, at the Vicentino Municipal Cemetery.

As the name of the other person involved in the accident was not disclosed, the report was unable to contact him or his defense.
