Cíntia Chagas asked the court for the arrest of her ex-husband, state deputy Lucas Bove (PL). The influencer filed a request for the parliamentarian’s preventive detention last Thursday (17). The reason is that the politician would be failing to comply with precautionary measures imposed in the process.
According to lawyer Gabriela Mansur, who represents Cíntia, the deputy, who is deputy leader of the PL in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) and is identified as the aggressor of his ex-wife in a domestic violence case, disobeyed court orders. Cíntia’s defense maintains that the deputy could not have spoken directly or indirectly about the matter on social media, as per court order, but, last week, he commented on the case in the Alesp gallery and on social media. At the time, he said that he would “never touch a woman” and that “the truth will be reestablished.”
After Cíntia Chagas’ complaints, the court granted a protective measure that prohibits Bove from approaching his ex-wife or communicating with her family, in addition to not being able to frequent the same places as her, under penalty of preventive detention. In the arrest request, Cíntia’s defense also recalls that the accused illegally leaked a conversation between the two that “compromises the victim’s personal life, intimacy and privacy”. The content was even published on a news website.
Lucas’ lawyer denies that his client was responsible for disclosing the conversation. To G1, lawyer Daniel Bialski, who represents the deputy, classified the arrest request as “absolutely unreasonable”, as he “did not violate any protective measure”. “As a public figure, he only spoke out within the freedom of expression and that ‘the truth will come out’. He respects the court’s decision and therefore could not speak in detail. What the deputy is waiting for is for the Court to also decide that the influencer is prohibited from speaking out about the case”, he declared.
In addition to the accusations of aggression against his ex, Lucas Bove is also the target of a request for impeachment filed with Alesp by female parliamentarians from PT and PSOL, who request the end of the parliamentarian’s mandate due to domestic violence.
In a note, lawyer Gabriela Mansur refuted Bove’s defense. “The decree of arrest in cases of domestic violence is a consequence of non-compliance with an urgent protective measure, based on article 24-A of the Maria Penha Law. It is a crime against the administration of Justice, for disobedience to the court decision. There is no unfair, unrealistic or exaggerated persecution. These are technical and procedural issues guided by the Law. Since October 10th, there are no arguments against facts, not complying with the urgent protective measure, not mentioning facts of the case, not giving interviews, not giving any information. talk about the couple’s past life directly or indirectly. All these facts were reported in the records and are being submitted to the Public Ministry and the Judiciary”, stated Cíntia Chagas’ lawyer.
“In addition to the secrecy of justice, which is in force in all domestic violence processes to protect the VICTIMS, there is a judicial decision that prevents Lucas from ‘tagging’ or mentioning the name of the victim and her family in posts he makes on any networks social media, or other means of communication, as well as commenting on posts on any of them or sending any type of message,” he said.
“It was also determined that the defendant refrain from sending or publishing on any social network, his or third party’s, or through any means of communication, videos, images, photographs, or any form of media that contains intimate or private content belonging to the applicant or related to its figure, under penalty of, in case of non-compliance, the conduct of the defendant being qualified, in accordance with item III, of article 313, of the Code of Criminal Procedure, added by Law n.11.340/06, for the purposes of having his preventive detention ordered; without prejudice to also having the crime of non-compliance with a protective measure, provided for in article 24-A, of the same legislation recognized,” he added.
Cíntia Chagas and Lucas Bove ended their marriage in October 2023, seven months after getting married in Italy. According to the influencer, the threats and attacks began two months earlier, when she refused to stop at a dinner to take a photo alongside Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and his wife, Michele Bolsonaro (PL).
“What caused the relationship to end was the fact that he kicked me out of a wedding we went to in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo. I didn’t want to stop my dinner to take a picture with him [e com Michelle e Jair Bolsonaro]. Then he wanted me to come back, I refused, and he came running, trying to find the car on the highway,” he said.
“When he arrived at our house, in São Paulo, in a minimum amount of time, he wanted me to return with him to Ribeirão Preto. I said no. He said that I had made him feel really embarrassed, so he came to punch me and said: ‘You just don’t get hit because you have 6 million followers. If not, I would be kicking you to the ground right now.’ That’s when it ended for me. As if that wasn’t enough, he even kicked me out of an apartment that was ours”, declared Chagas at the time.
The influencer also said that she suffered other attacks. “He threw a bottle of water at me, put cigarette ash in a bag, said that if I stayed in the apartment I wouldn’t be able to sleep and threatened to burn my clothes. If I continued with him, the risk would be to become another victim of femicide, so I left home,” he said.
Cíntia Chagas also said that she was attacked with a knife by the parliamentarian, which hit her leg, in addition to injuring her by grabbing her body. “It was in the middle of an argument. We were at the table having dinner and we had a fight. I don’t remember why, we never went more than 4 days without a fight. I must have given a bad answer, I got up and went to the fridge. From the table, he threw the knife towards me, hit my leg and I started to bleed. I said, ‘Look what you did. This is violence, this is aggression’. And he replied: ‘How cute. You’re going to report me to the Maria da Penha Law, are you? I’m a deputy, my love. I’ll finish you off whenever I want. You will be the crazy one. Try facing me’”, said the influencer.
