Maria Rebello, mother of former child actor and music producer João Rebello Fernandes, opened up about her son’s death in a post this Saturday (26). She spoke about the suffering of burying her son on the same date that marks five years since the death of her brother, soap opera director Jorge Fernando.

“I never imagined that on October 27th, 5 years after my brother passed away on the same day, I would be burying my son, does it have any meaning? Even though I am broken, I come here to thank all my friends who sent me messages of love. Johnny is my greatest friend for conversation, teaching, affection and life plans! I will never be the same again!”, she wrote on Instagram.

João’s body will be buried on Sunday (27), at the São João Batista Cemetery, in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.

Maria also commented on the investigations into the case. “The Trancoso police are investigating this cruelty, he was mistaken by the bandits for the Pajero he was driving. Trancoso became a Wild West!”, he said.

And he also talked about his son’s plans for moving to Bahia. “He just wanted to dance, dance in the daime, surf, love his son, his Karine, his friends, take care of the dogs, plan our trips, protect me. Come live in my heart, son! It’s all over!!!”, he concluded.

João Rebello was shot dead while inside his car, in Praça da Independência, in the center of Trancoso. Witnesses informed the police that two men on a motorcycle passed by the scene and shot at the vehicle. The case continues to be investigated by the Civil Police, the 1st Territorial Police Station (DT – Porto Seguro).

The artist became known for his career as an actor on TV Globo in the soap operas Vamp (1991), “Cambalacho (1986)”, “Deus nos Acuda” (1992); and “Vira Lata” (1996). His last appearance on the small screen was in 1997, when he acted in “Zazá”. In recent years, he had been working as a DJ, under the stage name DJ Vunje.
