Government of Bahia declares holiday next Monday (28)

Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) declared a holiday next Monday (28), due to the celebration of Public Servants Day. According to a publication in the Official State Gazette this Wednesday (23), the working hours of public offices of the State Executive Branch are suspended on the date“except for essential public services whose provision does not allow interruptions”, such as those in the areas of health, education, transport and security.
Last week, the governor had also announced the advance of salaries for Bahian employeesa measure that will cover more than 280 thousand employees, retirees and pensioners.
Public Servants’ Day has been part of the country’s official calendar since the government of Getúlio Vargas, in 1943. Normally, it is a date classified as optional, with activities on that day not being mandatory for certain groups, such as the offices of the municipality of Salvador.
