Globo News journalist Marcelo Cosme was moved this Saturday (26) when reporting the death of fellow journalist Julieta Amaral. She was a reporter and the first presenter at RBS TV, a TV Globo affiliate in Rio Grande do Sul.
Cosme cried when commenting on the death of the journalist, who had been facing pancreatic cancer for three years. “She was one of the most important names in journalism in Rio Grande and Rio Grande do Sul. She was my colleague, my boss, my mentor”, he said, emotionally. He was comforted by Leilane Neubarth, during the television news program Meio-Dia.
On Instagram, Cosme also paid tribute to Julieta and remembered the journalist’s teachings. “Julieta taught me how to hold the microphone. Make a text. Create fonts. Looking at the camera. Record a text. Edit… I would spend hours writing what I learned from her. The biggest lesson he taught me was that journalism is about helping people! Julieta has always done community journalism, on the street, at the door, at schools, hospitals, daycare centers, universities and sometimes penguins at the oceanographic museum. She always said “the people help the people”, he wrote.
Julieta was a reporter, coordinator and presenter at RBS TV Rio Grande, where she worked for almost 30 years. Rio Grande City Hall declared three days of official mourning.
