Second round of municipal elections will be on Sunday

The free electoral schedule broadcast on radio and television stations in cities where there will be a second round in the 2024 elections for mayors and councilors ends today (25). According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), of the 51 municipalities where the election will take place, 15 are capital cities.

Electoral legislation provides that there will only be a second round in municipalities with more than 200,000 voters, if none of the candidates obtained more than half of the valid votes in the first round. “In this case, the competitors who came in first and second place will compete in the second round”, informs the TSE.

“Today is also the last day for the paid dissemination, in the written press, and the reproduction, on the internet and in the printed newspaper, of up to ten electoral propaganda advertisements per vehicle, on different dates, for each candidate, in the maximum space , per edition, of one-eighth of a standard newspaper page and one-quarter of a magazine or tabloid page, relating to the second round”, details the TSE.

Debates, both on radio and television, will only be allowed until midnight.
