The Civil Police of Bahia confirmed that investigations indicate that former child actor João Rebello had been killed by mistake, which points to the impossibility of any involvement of the victim in criminal activities. There is also an indication of responsibility for the murder. The victim was 45 years old and was shot dead inside his car last Thursday night (24), in Trancoso, district of Porto Seguro, in the Far South of Bahia.

Soon after his death, rumors began to circulate that João was involved in drug trafficking, which was denied by family and friends, and now by the police.

The 3rd Territorial Police Station of Trancoso continues to investigate João’s death. According to the corporation, all legal measures are being adopted. Hearings and investigations are underway and there are teams in the field looking for images that can help in investigating the case.

From day one, João’s family believes he was killed by mistake. Maria Rebello, the victim’s mother, wrote on social media that the confusion had involved the car her son was driving. “The Trancoso police are investigating this cruelty, he was mistaken by the bandits for the Pajero he was driving. Trancoso became a Wild West!”, he stated.

She said her son had a “quiet life” in the city of Bahia with his wife, Karine. João now worked as a DJ, known by the name Vunje.

A video recorded by a security camera shows when João is parking the car on a busy street. A motorcycle with two men pulls up to the car and then one of the men starts shooting. He even passes the gun to his accomplice, who also shoots. The two then run away.
