Cotton candy, popsicles, bounce houses and other toys livened up the afternoon of the 200 children who visited the 3rd Military Fire Brigade (BBM), in the Iguatemi neighborhood to celebrate Children’s Day. Among the children were students from three public schools in Salvador and the Metropolitan Region and a shelter, as well as military children.

The action took place on Friday afternoon (25). In addition to playing games and painting faces, the children were able to use a hose, simulating firefighting and get into a vehicle. They received a bag of goodies and toys at the end of the games.

“It is a pleasure to welcome children to our institution. Our joy increases even more when we realize that they are enjoying it. We know that many do not know about our activity and being able to bring and show a little of our day-to-day life up close is gratifying” , said Major BM Luciano Alves, organizer of the action.

One of the schools is located in Simões Filho. The municipality’s pedagogical coordinator, Geni Oliveira reflects on the impact of the initiative on students. “[A ação] provides educational leisure for them to get to know the institution. It’s a time when they leave the school environment and get to know the institution, so they can see a little of the firefighters’ activities, broadening their horizons and their critical-reflective thoughts”, he stated.
