A typical character of the electoral period is the voter who goes to vote shortly before the end of the voting period. In Camaçari it was no different: the final stretch of the second round of municipal elections took people to schools and electoral zones.
Legal correspondent Neuma Francisca, 47 years old, voted at the Edvaldo Machado Boaventura Municipal School, in the Center. She said she decided to go in the late afternoon due to the low circulation of people. “I’ve always voted at this school and it’s always quiet at this time. I heard there was a disturbance in the morning, but now there’s nothing,” he said.
The confusion mentioned by Neuma occurred at Colégio São Tomaz de Cantuária, which is next to the unit and involved supporters and ticket inspectors. The turmoil reflects the intensification of the campaign, marked by accusations from both sides.
“I saw a lot of lies and unnecessary accusations. We are in the 21st century and it is past time for candidates to focus on proposals. This second round was very good because it will reflect the decision of the population, who had another 15 days to define their vote” , he assessed.
Brothers Victor and Vitória Sacramento, 21 and 23 years old, respectively, went to Colégio São Tomaz de Cantuária accompanied by their mother, Cibele. The stickers on the shirt showed the preference of the family who analyzed the climate in the city before the vote.
“It’s clear that the city is divided, but for now everything is normal. I don’t know what it will be like after the result, as people will start drinking, arguing and this could be very dangerous. I think the sides are well defined , with few people voting”, said Victor
“In recent days we saw the trio of a candidate walking down the street and on the other side of the road the opponent’s car was passing by. This polarization remained in all neighborhoods of the city”, added Vitória.

Who also voted at Colégio São Tomaz de Cantuária was receptionist Gabriela Amaral, 23 years old. She went with her friend Alice Gabriela, 24, who voted at the Maria Quitéria Educational Center, located in the same region. The duo reflects the city’s polarization, as they chose different candidates.
“We work here in the Center and every time a different candidate’s car passes by. The end of the afternoon is usually calmer, it was only in the first round that there was a problem with the ballot boxes. The race is very close, I can’t say who will win” , said Alice.
“I had even commented that it seemed like a wake, because everything is very still. The number of police officers on the street is much greater than the first shift and this contributed to this tranquility”, reported Gabriela.
The clock reached 5 pm when computer technician Ariosvaldo Oliveira, 69, arrived at the Maria Quitéria Educational Center, the second largest electoral zone in Camaçari. He reported that he usually has the habit of voting in the morning.
“As I would only have the vote for mayor, I decided to come in the afternoon. This dispute is natural, but I hope that my candidate wins. I didn’t try to vote, but I talked to my family about the political moment we are living in. Everyone takes their decision, so I hope they chose the best option”, he declared.
