During the vote next Sunday (27), which will decide the new mayor of Camaçari – Metropolitan Region of Salvador – for the next four years, the Federal Police will send the Ready Intervention Group (GPI) to reinforce policing in the city. The group specializes in ‘crisis situations’ and ‘high-risk operations’. The information is from the newspaper O Globo.
Furthermore, the security operation for the second round of the Camaçari elections will include 1,300 police officers, 180 vehicles and 50 video surveillance cameras, 13 of which have a facial recognition system. The information was released by the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA).
The Integrated Communication and Control Center (CICC) will operate during the election on Sunday. The center will be activated on Saturday morning (26) and will remain in operation until Monday morning (28), at the Operations and Intelligence Center (COI), in the Administrative Center of Bahia, in Salvador.
Order
On the eve of the first round, deputies from the opposition to the PT requested the presence of the National Force in the Camaçari election. The request was forwarded to the Regional Electoral Court of Bahia (TRE-BA).
In the text, the parliamentarians stated that the criminal faction Comando Vermelho (CV) was preventing candidate Flávio Matos (União Brasil) from holding rallies and marches in regions of the municipality.
The document was signed by federal deputies Paulo Azi, Elmar Nascimento, Arthur Maia, Dal Barreto, Zé Rocha and Leur Lomanto Jr., all from União Brasil, in addition to Adolfo Viana, state president of the PSDB.
Second round
Upon reaching 200 thousand voters, Camaçari now has the possibility of the election being decided in two rounds, when none of the candidates obtains more than half of the valid votes to win in a single vote. That is, 50% plus one vote. In the case of Camará, Luiz Caetano (PT) obtained 49.52%, and Flávio Matos (União), 49.17%. The difference between them was just 559 votes, which opened up a fierce competition for the municipal election.
