Protesters closed Avenida Antônio Carlos Magalhães (ACM), near the Saramandaia neighborhood, in Salvador, to protest the death of a man, early this Tuesday (22). The man was shot dead by military police officers from the 1st Independent Military Police Company (CIPM), on Rua Senhor do Bonfim, in the same neighborhood.
According to the police version, Rodrigo Santos de Jesus, 30 years old, was killed during a police action. “The PMs were carrying out patrols in the region, when they were called by a passerby, reporting that he had been robbed by two men on board a motorcycle. Searches were carried out, and the police officers came across a group of individuals who, upon realizing the presence of the pms, fired shots at the garrison. There was a retaliation and after the confrontation ended, one of the suspects was found lying on the ground”, he stated in a statement.
Rodrigo was taken to Roberto Santos Hospital, where the man was under medical care, but did not survive his injuries. According to the PM, a 32-caliber revolver, six rounds of ammunition, 32 portions of marijuana and 27 cocaine pins were found. The seized material was presented to the police station to open the incident, registered with the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP).
According to the PM, the corporation sent a team to the protest site in the early afternoon of Tuesday, where, after negotiation, the road was cleared.
