The National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) will administer the 2024 National High School Examination (Enem) tests on November 3rd and 10th, in 1,753 municipalities.
Preliminary data from Inep, relating to the logistics and security of Enem 2024, indicate that the more than 5 million applicants this year will take the tests in around 10,000 locations, such as schools and colleges, which house around 140,000 rooms.
In September, Inep concluded the cycle of four regional technical meetings on Enem logistics with the aim of training those involved and aligning exam operations.
In total, the administration of the tests over the two days will involve 10,000 coordinators and more than 300,000 employees, such as test administrators, application assistants, bathroom, corridor and gate inspectors, as well as employees who assist candidates who have requested specialized assistance. , such as Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) interpreters and certified test readers for, for example, candidates with visual impairments.
In this year’s edition of Enem, Inep will provide around 58 thousand specialized services. And among the more than 78,000 accessibility resources available are the test in Braille, test with enlarged font, lip reading, transcription assistance, accessible furniture, a room with easy access for people with reduced mobility and a room for nursing mothers.
The safe distribution of approximately 9 million printed tests, answer sheets and identification materials to the application sites is part of the schedule before the Enem is administered.
Inep calculates that to transport the 65 thousand test bags, 10.8 thousand transport routes will be adopted to municipalities in all 27 units of the federation. The estimate is that 2,500 light collapsible containers and 60 transport trailers will be used.
For more than 15 years, Correios has carried out the logistical operation for the delivery of tests, with more than 300 million printed pages. After the tests, the state-owned company is also responsible for collecting the candidates’ answer cards.
This step, called reverse logistics, takes all the bags with the documents to the locations where the corrections will be made.
Established in 1998, the National High School Examination assesses the academic performance of students at the end of high school.
Participants who have not yet completed high school can participate as trainers and the results obtained in the exam are only used for self-assessment of knowledge.
Enem grades can be used in selection processes coordinated by the Ministry of Education (MEC), such as the Unified Selection System (Sisu), the University for All Program (ProUni) and the Higher Education Student Financing Fund (Fies) of the federal government.
Performance on the Enem is also considered for admission to higher education institutions in Portugal that have an agreement with Inep. The agreements guarantee easy access to grades for Brazilian students interested in pursuing higher education in that country.
Over two days, participants take tests in four areas of knowledge: languages, codes and their technologies; human sciences and their technologies; natural sciences and their technologies; and mathematics and its technologies, which total 180 objective questions. Participants must also write an essay.
Inep’s accessibility and inclusion policy guarantees specialized service with various accessibility resources, in addition to treatment by social name. There is also an application for people deprived of liberty (PPL).
For further clarification, the Enem 2024 notice is available in the Official Gazette of the Union.
