Sole representative of the São Salvador Swimming and Regattas Club (CNRSS), Renê Pereira finished the Brazilian Interclub Championship (CBI) of Unified Rowing 2024, in São Paulo, last weekend, with 1st place in the men’s 1x PR1 category. With this, the Paralympic athlete, who participated in the Rio Paralympics in 2016 and was already a bronze medalist in Tokyo 2021, achieved the highest podium place in the competition for the eighth time.
“It’s a historic record. Before I entered the sport, the record was three-time champion. Sudesb (Superintendence of Sports of the State of Bahia) had fundamental support in this process in acquiring tickets. This help was great and allowed me to be there in São Paulo representing Bahia”, celebrated Renê, who envisions participating in the contest in Los Angeles in 2028. “It’s still too early to make that prediction, but that’s what I feel in my heart. I start this cycle thinking about who knows how to be in Los Angeles in 2028. I want to continue representing the country’s parasport”, he confesses.

Rene too seeks to attract new fans to the sport and sport in general with the creation of CT Renê Pereira, a space designed for the practice of water sports in Salvador. “It is something that is practically consolidated, it just needs logistical support. It’s something that will be important for me and other nautical athletes”, he argues.
“Renê is a big name in Bahian sport and parasports. We are increasingly proud to see our Parasports athletes from Bahia on the highest spot on the podium. Renê continues to be a great motivator and competitor. We are very happy with this partnership”, celebrated Adelmare Junior, coordinator of the Sudesb Paradesporto Center.
