Two men were arrested on suspicion of selling pesticides clandestinely in the city of Licínio de Almeida, in the southwest of the state. In addition to the arrests, the incident resulted in the seizure of 250 liters of pesticides and 40kg of chemicals by the Integrated Preventive Inspection (FPI), coordinated by the Public Ministry of Bahia (MP-BA).
The arrests occurred during an FPI action in the municipality of Guanambi. According to the MP-BA, the teams visited six enterprises linked to the sale of agricultural products. During the inspection, units of the pesticide Gota Fatal were found, which is not registered with control bodies. The material was found in all establishments, which were fined.
The officers then visited two locations identified as selling points for the product. Also according to the MP-BA, two pesticide deposits were found with products that were out of date and stored improperly. The action resulted in the arrest of the two individuals, who were charged with illegally dividing, storing and selling the products.
“We identified two clandestine deposits, with the fractionation of pesticides and even the use of soda bottles, which can cause lethal domestic accidents. We arrested two individuals, who were taken to the police station to be duly held accountable”, says Major Porto, commander of the Independent Environmental Protection Policing Company (CIPPA).
