Summoning the influencer can help the commission clarify issues related to the manipulation of games and bets

The CPI for the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting meets next Tuesday (29), at 2:30 pm, to listen to digital influencer Deolane Bezerra. The request (REQ 111/2024) calling for the influencer was presented by the vice-president of the parliamentary commission of inquiry, senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE).

According to Girão, Deolane’s summons could help the commission to clarify issues related to the manipulation of games and betting. The senator recalls that the businesswoman, lawyer and influencer was arrested in an operation by the Civil Police of Pernambuco against a criminal organization dedicated to illegal gambling and money laundering.

The application also records that, in 2022, Deolane was the target of a search and seizure by the São Paulo Civil Police on suspicion of having a relationship with Betzord, an internet sports betting company. At the time, Betzord was being investigated for “crime against the popular economy and criminal association”.

The influencer’s defense appealed to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) so that she would not be forced to testify to the CPI. The habeas corpus request awaits judgment.

At the same meeting, the CPI will also hear from the executive director of Esportes da Sorte, Darwin Henrique da Silva Filho. The request (REQ 113/2024) for the summoning of Darwin Filho was presented by the president of the commission, senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO).

The senator states that summoning the executive “is essential so that the practices of Esportes da Sorte can be clarified, including the legality of the resources handled and possible irregularities linked to money laundering and the manipulation of sports results”.

According to the request, there is consistent evidence of illicit practices, as highlighted by the investigation by Operation Integration of the Civil Police of Pernambuco, the same one that resulted in the arrest of Deolane Bezerra.
