Voters who did not go to the polls in the second round of elections, held this Sunday (27), have until January 7, 2025 to justify their absence. Voters abroad have up to 30 days after returning to the country to justify their absence, if their return occurs after the end of the period specified in the electoral calendar.
The justification can be made through the e-Título application, electoral self-service or the Electoral Justification Request Form (post-election). In the latter case, the document must be delivered to any electoral registry office or sent by post to the judicial authority of the electoral zone responsible for the title.
Whichever option is chosen, documentation proving the reason for absence must be attached for analysis by the judicial authority of the electoral zone responsible for the title. If the justification is accepted, there will be a record in the electoral title history. If the justification is not accepted, you will need to pay off the debt.
For those who did not vote in the first round, the deadline is December 5th.
“Each justification is only valid for the shift in which you did not attend because you were outside your electoral domicile. Therefore, if you fail to vote in the first and second rounds of the election, you will have to justify your absence to each one, separately, complying with the requirements and deadlines for each round”, informed the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
Understand
Absence at the polls is recorded immediately after the election. The justification deadlines appear as periods that the voter has to regularize this absence without paying an electoral fine. The analysis of the justification presented is always the responsibility of the judicial authority of the electoral zone responsible for the title.
The history of electoral justifications, containing the respective elections in which the voter was absent, can be consulted in the e-Título application. Access to the application is available, according to the TSE, for those who have a regular or suspended electoral registration.
