Businessman Fábio Mocci Rodrigues Jardim, 42, who died during an MRI scan on his head, was investigating drowsiness that persisted. He decided to see a doctor to solve the problem, which had been affecting his routine.
The death occurred in a clinic in the city of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. Initially, a doctor informed family members that the patient suffered a massive heart attack while undergoing the examination, but the Death Verification Service (SVO) considered the case as a “suspicious death”. An autopsy examination will be carried out by the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to confirm what actually killed the businessman.

According to the businessman’s widow, Sabrina Altenburg Penna, it was the first time he was going to have an MRI, but he was calm. Fábio went to the clinic at 2pm on Tuesday (22) to take the exam and died inside the MRI room, while undergoing the procedure. “This all makes me distressed and nervous. I went in with my husband, I came out with a piece of paper in my hand,” she told G1 Santos.
Fábio Mocci Rodrigues Jardim left a daughter, aged 6, and a stepdaughter, aged 14, in addition to his wife. The whole family is now waiting for an answer about what really happened to the businessman. When contacted, the clinic did not respond to contact attempts.
