Former football player Daniel Alves was ordered by the São Paulo Court to pay R$80,000 in compensation to country singers for appropriating a song. Recently, Daniel was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for rape in Spain, but is currently on provisional release. The information is from g1.

In the process, musicians Giuliano Matheus and Thiago Matheus, known as Thyy, pointed out that they were not included in the authorship of the song “Avião”. The song would be a tribute to Giuliano’s grandfather and was released by the athlete in 2020, in a campaign by the United Nations (UN) against misinformation in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The composers claim that they were invited by the player to go to Barcelona in 2016 for a partnership. The song was presented to Daniel Alves the following year, in Italy. The Bahian liked it and asked to make some changes, which were accepted by the duo.

Still according to g1, the relationship ended due to commercial differences, without the song being released. But Daniel Alves’ defense claimed that it was the athlete who conceived the song alone in 2015, and that Giuliano had made suggestions for the lyrics, which were not accepted by the former player.

Daniel Alves did not present any element that would confirm the version that he wrote the song alone.

In her sentence, the judge of the 41st Civil Court of the capital highlights that there are messages sent by an advisor to the player on April 23, 2020 in which he recognizes that the song was written jointly by Thiago and Daniel.

“The documents stored on the authors’ computers corroborate their version that a sketch was initially written by Giuliano, who presented the song to the defendant Daniel, who, in turn, made some suggestions on the lyrics”, he explained.

The decision may be appealed. Daniel Alves’ defense did not comment.
