The editor of Jornal CORREIO Donaldson Gomes is in the top 50 of the +Admirados of the Economy, Business and Finance Press 2024. The list was released this Tuesday (22) by Jornalistas&Cia, and features 51 award-winning journalists, as a result of a tie between professionals.
Journalists were chosen through online voting, divided into two rounds. In the first round, more than 300 journalists and 400 media outlets nominated by Jornalistas&Cia readers participated. For the second round, 102 journalists and 76 media outlets were classified.
This is the ninth edition of the award, which is divided into the categories of News Agency, Audio, Video Channel, Newspaper, TV Program, Magazine and Website/Portal.
“Being in this relationship is something special for a few reasons. The first of them is precisely because of the format of this award, which is based on recognition from colleagues and the audience in relation to our work. To reach this stage it was necessary for many people to remember the name and this makes me very happy”, says the CORREIO editor.
Donaldson is a newcomer to the list, alongside 13 other journalists: Alex Ribeiro (Valor Econômico), Allan Ravagnani (IstoÉ Dinheiro), Amanda Sampaio (Revista Oeste), Beatriz Cavalcante (O Povo), Circe Bonatelli (Agência Estado), Danilo Moliterno (CNN Brasil), Denyse Godoy (UOL), Edna Simão (Valor Econômico), Eduardo Moreira (ICL), Fábio Graner (JOTA), Karla Spotorno (Agência Estado), Luciano Pádua (Exame) and Rosana Hessel (Correio Braziliense).
“Putting myself alongside names that I’m only used to reading about or seeing on TV is something really cool. For all of this, I can only thank everyone for this recognition”, he concludes.
CORREIO’s editor-in-chief, Linda Bezerra, highlights that the award is also a reflection of the newspaper’s performance. “The recognition of Donaldson Gomes’ work highlights that CORREIO has diverse content, ranging from the big economy to other problems that affect the community. The newspaper is plural, it deals with the most relevant news for promoting Bahia’s economy, but it also reveals stories of people who are invisible. It is the recognition that we have a broad, but also specific, careful work, for those who have nowhere to speak”, he states.
Other names are also on the list: Aluisio Alves (Financial Intelligence), Ana Estela de Sousa Pinto (Folha de S.Paulo), Cida Damasco (Nova Brasil), Daniel Rittner (CNN Brasil), Geraldo Samor (Brazil Journal), Helecine Laguardia (O Tempo/Super Rádio Notícia), Ivo Ribeiro (Estadão), Julia Wiltgen (Seu Dinheiro), Luís Artur Nogueira (Revista Oeste), Carlos Alberto Sardenberg, Adriana Mattos (Valor Econômico), Alexa Salomão (Folha de S.Paulo) and Miriam Leitão (Grupo Globo), Adriana Fernandes (Folha de S.Paulo), Flavia Oliveira (GloboNews), José Paulo Kupfer (UOL/Poder 360), Luís Nassif (Jornal GGN) and the 2023 champion Thais Herédia (CNN Brasil ).
In addition to this award, Donaldson is also a finalist for the ABDE Journalism Award, promoted by the Brazilian Development Association (ABDE). The winners will be announced on November 6th. On his resume, Donaldson also accumulates state awards from Sebrae Bahia.
