A cell phone technician threatened girls claiming to be a member of a criminal gang to obtain intimate images of the victims. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested last Thursday, 17th, in the Siqueira neighborhood, in Fortaleza, during an operation by the Civil Police of Ceará (PC-CE). Investigations indicate that more than 40 women were victims of the accused, who used the images for personal satisfaction.
Four victims were identified, one being a minor, aged 17, and the others between 18 and 19 years old. One of the victims even registered a Police Report (BO), which began investigations against the suspect. In addition to demanding the images, the suspect also extorted the victims, with amounts between R$150 and R$300, acquired through pix.
“With this data, he could also access social networks, which we call social engineering. Initially, he saw if the girl pleased him sexually. Then, he began extorting victims using their cell phone numbers, where he pretended to be a member of the faction and demanded money, intimate photos and videos under penalty of the faction killing them if they did not send them”, explains the delegate.
In the narrative, the suspect also told the victims that they were dating married men and that this displeased the members of the criminal group. The cell phone technician said that, if they sent what he asked for, he would try to reverse the situation and prevent them and their families from being targeted by the group.
“From sending money to intimate photos and videos so he could contain the other members of the criminal organization”, says the head of the 5th DP.
During the operation, seven cell phones and R$2,000 in cash, proceeds from extortion, were seized from the suspect. The equipment was found in a residence, in addition to 28 chips registered in the names of third parties and used to send messages to the victims. Investigations also indicate that there are eight more cell phones used by the man to commit the crimes.
The seized material was taken to the 5th DP, where search and seizure warrants were executed. The director of the Capital Judicial Police Department (DPJC), George Monteiro, stated that the man was arrested for the crimes of cyberbullying, threats, stalking, psychological violence, false identity, ideological falsehood, extortion and sexual harassment, subject to 35 years of imprisonment. prison.
The director of the DPJC stated that, in the case of extortion, threats and cyberbullying, victims must register a Police Report (BO). “With the registration, it is possible that the Civil Police of Ceará (PC-CE) can take the necessary measures to identify possible offenders”, he highlights.
Victims studied at the same school and, after threats, family left the region. The four victims, initially identified, studied at the same school, located in the Montese neighborhood. Police chief Valdir Passos explained that, based on contact with the first victim, it was possible to identify the others. According to the head of the 5th DP, it was identified that the man knew all the students’ schedules at school.
“We still have some doubts in the investigation. For example, if at school, he would have some contact who has provided the information. He knew the school, room, arrival time and many details. The second hypothesis, which he confessed, was that, with the chips, he obtained information, including from her friends, and did all this engineering”, comments the delegate.
Also according to Valdir, faced with the threats, one of the families even changed neighborhoods out of fear of the information. Despite police officers claiming that the suspect was not part of a criminal group. “What he was doing to each of the victims caused the mother of one of them to lose her job and move to another neighborhood,” he said. The information is from Jornal O Povo.
