The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony, this Monday (28), in Paris, was not attended by the player Vinicius Jr., nor any other representative of Real Madrid. According to journalist Luiz Miguelsanzo, in a column in the Catalan newspaper Sportthe reason the player, tipped to receive the award, lost the dispute would be his behavior off the field.

The journalist stated, in the column, that losing the Ballon d’Or was “a lesson for Vini Jr. “behave better and respect rivals on the field” and that “winning and scoring goals is not the only thing that matters”.

Brazilian striker Vinicius Júnior, from Real Madrid, was considered a favorite for the award. According to experts, the trophy for best in the world should go to Spaniard Rodri, from Manchester City.

The first award of the night was presented to Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal, who won the season’s Kopa Revelation Trophy.
