Residents of areas close to the Salvador Carnival circuits should pay attention to the deadline to register their vehicles and receive car driving credentials from the comfort of their homes. Anyone who lives in these regions must make the request by November 23rd.
According to the Salvador Traffic Superintendence (Transalvador), to date, only 2,630 residents have completed the request. The forecast is that around 33 thousand properties will be able to receive the credentials.
The application must be made on the Transalvador website. Residents who register the license plates of up to two vehicles will receive the stickers at their residence. Also on the virtual page, citizens can find out if their residence is in one of the party’s restricted areas.
“We ask that residents avoid leaving it until the last minute and prefer to register their vehicles via the website. This is a safe, easy and quick procedure. Furthermore, only then will citizens be able to receive their credentials free of charge at home. Therefore, everyone who lives in these restricted movement zones must pay attention to the deadline so as not to lose their convenience”, warns Decio Martins, Salvador’s Traffic Superintendent.
The procedure is even simpler for residents who have already registered previously. In this case, simply access the system with the same login and password. Then, confirm the vehicle that was already registered last year, replace it or include the details of a new car. Citizens who have already registered in advance and do not confirm, replace or include a new vehicle on the website by the deadline must go to the physical stations, which will be opened on a date and location to be announced, if they wish to obtain a new credential.
Those who are not registered on the website can virtually register again to receive the stickers. To do this, the property owner or tenant must provide the IPTU, CPF/CNPJ numbers and email address. It is worth noting that the CPF number provided must be that of the property owner.
The system will then send an access code to the email provided. After that, when entering the system, the Renavam number and license plate of the vehicle to be registered can be entered.
Until the end of the period, everyone will be able to make changes to their vehicle license plates. After the date, the procedure can only be carried out at one of the service stations, by exchanging the sticker and presenting the new vehicle document (CRLV). The start of in-person service and locations where these stations will operate will be announced in the future.
Late registration
The credentials will only be delivered to the homes of residents who registered their vehicle license plates by November 23rd on the Transalvador website. Anyone who misses the deadline will have to collect their credentials at the service points. To speed up collection at these points, even after the deadline, citizens can register their license plates on the website, but must go to the counters to get their credentials.
Restriction Zones
As in previous years, the 2025 Carnival will feature five major areas where vehicle circulation is restricted. These regions will be subdivided into a total of 12 subareas. Credentials are specific to each of the 12 locations. Vehicles that do not have the appropriate authorization for circulation or that access a subzone other than that of their residence will be fined.
The fine for anyone traveling in a place and time not permitted by regulations is R$130.16. This is an infraction of a medium nature, provided for in article 187, item I, of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB). The offender is also subject to 4 points.
