An employee at the Burger King unit, in the East Zone of São Paulo, was terminated after identifying a customer who made a purchase this Saturday (26) through the fast-food chain’s drive-thru as “debmental”. The information is from g1.
She placed the offense on the customer’s purchase coupon, in the field where the consumer’s name must be identified. The image was shared on social media by local pages in the region.

The company reported this Monday (28) in a note that “after an internal investigation, the employee involved was immediately terminated, in accordance with our Code of Conduct”.
“We do not tolerate this type of behavior and are committed to maintaining welcoming and safe environments for our employees and customers. We will reinforce our internal training to ensure that situations like this do not happen again,” the fast food chain said.
The client, victim of the offense, was not identified.
“Debmental” is an expression derived from “feeble-minded”, an informal and derogatory adjective that refers to someone who is believed to have insufficient intellectual or mental development.
The expression is considered outdated, offensive and prejudiced against people with disabilities. Person with intellectual disability is the most correct expression.
