Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface was involved in a serious car accident in Leverkusen, Germany. In the early hours of this Sunday, hours after scoring the goal that declared the victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, 2-1, at the BayArena, in the 7th round of the Bundesliga. He was alone in the vehicle and there were no other victims.
The Nigerian striker crashed his car on a road near Cologne. The gunner only left with minor injuries, while the luxury car had its front end destroyed and even lost one of its wheels in the accident.
On his social networks, the player discussed the accident saying “God is greater”, while appearing in the hospital with his hand bandaged. The German club has not officially commented on the case.
This week, the player had already been involved in a controversy with the Nigerian team committee, which refused to compete in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Libya. On that occasion, Boniface and his teammates spent more than 15 hours in an airport Libyan, after much complaining the delegation decided not to attend the match.
Boniface is Bayer Leverkusen’s top scorer, current champion, in the German Championship, with 5 goals in seven rounds. This season, Leverkusen occupies fourth place, with 14 points, three behind leaders Bayern Munich.
