The film about half-vampire Eric Brooks, Blade, has an uncertain release date. Initially scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025, the film was removed from Marvel’s release calendar. Now, the release of Predator: Badlands is scheduled for the same date. The information was confirmed by Variety magazine this Tuesday, 22.

The studios also added three dates for new releases, according to the magazine: February 18, May 5 and November 10, 2028. It is not known, however, whether Blade will be included on one of these days. According to Variety, the film’s removal from the calendar comes after Disney CEO Bob Iger declared that Marvel would release “a maximum of three” films per year.

The film faced several challenges in production. It changed directors twice (Yann Demange, who had taken over from Bassam Tariq, left as director in June), passed through the hands of six screenwriters (Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo, Nic Pizzolatto and, currently, Eric Pearson), in addition to facing problems with recording during the pandemic. Of the four Marvel films scheduled for next year, Blade was the only one that had barely begun production.

The film, starring Moonlight actor Mahershala Ali, was announced by the studios in 2019. Blade is a human-vampire hybrid whose mission is to hunt down vampires who terrorize humanity. The character was the subject of a trilogy of films, released between 1998 and 2004, with Wesley Snipes as the protagonist.

Snipes even broke two Guinness World Records after returning by surprise as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. The live action character is now the longest-running character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and also the one with the longest gap between appearances in Marvel films.

In addition to Mahershala Ali, the Marvel film also has Mia Goth, star of films such as Pearl and granddaughter of Brazilian actress Maria Gladys, in the cast. In July, she starred in MaXXXine, the third film in the horror trilogy that began with X: The Mark of Death.
