The Ministry of Health will send a new shipment of vaccines against Covid-19, of the XBB variant, to Bahia this Thursday (24). The expectation is that the state will receive 42 thousand doses that will be distributed to the state’s 417 municipalities according to population criteria.

This phase of vaccination covers children aged 6 months to under 5 years old, as part of routine vaccination, and eligible adults. Priority will be given to people aged 60 or over, pregnant women, women who have recently given birth, immunocompromised people, indigenous people, riverside dwellers, quilombolas, health workers, people with permanent disabilities, among other priority groups.

With this shipment, the objective is to meet the demand generated by the shortages that occurred at the beginning of October and reinforce the immunization of these groups, depending on the vaccination history of each individual, ensuring that protection against severe forms of Covid-19 is maintained throughout the entire population. state. Since June 2024, 40,849 doses of the XBB vaccine have been administered in Bahia, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health.
