Bahia is one of the highlights among the nominees for the 2024 Multishow Award, which will take place on December 3, in Rio de Janeiro. In total, 15 Bahian artists are on the list, representing different genres and categories. Ivete Sangalo, Gilberto Gil, Melly, Simone Mendes, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, É o Tchan, Baco Exu do Blues, O Kannalha, ÀTTØØXXÁ, Nadson o Ferinha, Parangolé, Léo Santana and Sued have the chance to take home a trophy . The full list of nominees was released this Thursday (24).

This year, five categories will be decided by public vote, two of which feature artists from Bahia. Juazeiro native Ivete Sangalo and brothers Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia compete in the “Show of the Year” category with IZA, Ludmilla, Planet Hemp and Jão. Sued Nunes, born in Sapeaçu, in Recôncavo, competes in the “Brazil Category”, representing the Northeast region. She competes with Thauane (Central-West), Vitor Limma (South), Viviane Batidão (North) and Yan (Southeast). The categories “TVZ Clip of the Year”, “Hit of the Year” and “Revelation of the Year” will also be decided by the public. Voting can be done here.

The other categories will be defined by the award Academy. In the categories by genre, Nadson o Ferinha competes in “Arrocha do Ano” with the song “Oração”. Melly competes for “MPB of the Year” with “Cacau”, a track from her album Amaríssima. Simone Mendes is nominated for “Sertanejo of the Year” with “Dois Tristes”. In the “Urban Music” category, Duquesa competes with “Purple Rain” (feat. Yunk Vino and Go Dassisti) and the partnership of Gilberto Gil with MC Hariel, in “A Dança”.

Most of the nominations for Bahian artists are in the “Axé/Pagodão of the Year” category, with several hits that marked this year’s carnival. “Macetando”, by Ivete Sangalo part. Ludmilla; “Nego Doce”, by O Kannalha; “Perna Bamba”, Parangolé part. Leo Santana; “Seus Messages”, Ivete Sangalo and Liniker; “Tá Gostosin”, ÀTTØØXXÁ and É O Tchan; and “Tranca Rua”, ÀTTØØXXÁ feat. Baco Exu from Blues compete for the prize.

The award will be presented by Tadeu Schmidt and Tata Werneck, who repeat the successful partnership from the previous edition, together with Kenya Sade, new to this edition. The ceremony will take place at Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro, and will be broadcast live on Multishow, TV Globo and Globoplay.
