Around 150 people suffered food poisoning after consuming a cake at a party at Escola Municipal Professora Lêda Tájra, in Alto Parnaíba, Maranhão. Most of the people who got sick were children.
The episode took place on Friday (25) during the celebration of Children’s Day, according to g1 Maranhão.
A medical team from the Municipal Hospital was called in to meet the large demand of patients.
According to the students, the symptoms began hours after the party. Teachers, parents and students reported diarrhea, vomiting and even fainting.
According to the school management, the cake was prepared the day before the party. Cake samples were collected for analysis.
