Apae will hold Olympics for special people in Bahia

The event will have competitions in nine modalities, with 400 representatives from 20 cities in Bahia

The Special Olympics of the Special Parents and Friends Associations (Apaes) of Bahia will begin its twelfth edition between the 6th and 9th of November, bringing participants from 20 different municipalities. There will be around 400 representatives competing in Futsal, Swimming, Bocce, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Handball, Futsal Society, Capoeira, Futsal Down and Athletics.

The event will take place at the Sports Complex of the Army’s School of Health and Military Training, in Pituba, in Salvador, and will focus on promoting inclusion through sport. “This event not only celebrates the talent and determination of the participants, but also seeks to reveal new talents and provide moments of overcoming and unity”, commented Derval Evangelista, president of Apae Salvador.

“The Special Olympics are a space where the determination and commitment of the participants are highlighted, reaffirming the importance of sport as a tool for inclusion”, he added.

The event will be promoted by the Federation of Apaes of the State of Bahia, and involves the cities of Camaçari, Santo Amaro, Jequié, Riachão do Jacuípe, Canavieiras, Santa Luz, Una, Paulo Afonso, Vitória da Conquista, Luiz Eduardo Magalhães, Governador Mangabeira, Valente, Gandu, Feira de Santana, Eunápolis, Ilhéus and Guanambi.
