Actress Anja Bittencourt, who worked on productions such as Verdades Secretas and Elas Por Elas, on Rede Globo, died this Thursday, 24th, at the age of 72. The information was confirmed by actors Nizo Neto, Lucio Mauro Filho and Mônica Martelli, friends of the artist. The cause of death was not revealed, but Anja was undergoing treatment for cancer.

In addition to acting, she has also worked as a director, writer and teacher. Anja participated in one of the episodes of Verdades Secretas, and in an episode of the Netflix series Todo Dia a Sama Noite. The actress was also in Êta Mundo Bom! and Caras & Bocas. Her last work on television was as Magali in the new version of Elas Por Elas

Mônica Martelli published photos alongside Anja and a long tribute to the actress. “In love with the craft, her life was about being an actress above anything else. Life never existed for her without acting, inventing a project or teaching actors,” she said.

She also mentioned her friend’s husband, Carlos Candido, who, according to Mônica, took care of Anja “until the last minute”. “Few people in life are lucky enough to have a partner like Anja had. […] Dear, strength in this moment and love to you. Let’s keep her happy memories, because she was happy and cheerful. He made life what he wanted. Life well lived.”
