Coach Carlo Ancelotti was asked about Real Madrid’s performance at the start of the season and asked journalists to calm down at a press conference held this Monday (21). With an eye on the game with Borussia Dortumund, which takes place on Tuesday (22), in the Champions League, he ruled out changing the way the team operates.
“I’d rather Mbappé score goals than help mark the opponent’s ball. Bellingham changed position the other day. We thought they could find more space on the right. But we’ll continue along that line,” said the coach.
With a 50% success rate in two rounds (victory over Stuttgart and defeat to Lille), the Italian coach commented on what he thinks in relation to Real Madrid’s tactics. “We are working on adjusting the defense line. All our work consists of having a compact team. We have to work on this as a team. The team lacks solidity in midfield. But it is clear that we are still not 100% physically”, he commented
In the interview, he commented on his German rival and said he expected a very difficult match. “Borussia has changed coach and has new players in its squad. They have an intense game idea and an opponent that demands a lot on the field”, he commented.
Ancelotti gave no indications about the lineup. However, he admitted he had solutions to try and win the match. And based on the statements, veteran Modric could be an important option.
“Modric is a unique player in football, with spectacular experience. I can’t say if he will start, but I hope to count on him to continue helping us, whether he starts as a starter or not.”
With 100% success in two rounds, Borussia is coming off an impressive 7-1 defeat of the Celtics. This Tuesday’s clash is scheduled for 4pm (Brasília time), at the Santiago Bernabéu, in Madrid.
