At Barradão, Vitória fans filled the stands to support Leão in the direct confrontation against Fluminense, in the 31st round of the Brazilian Championship. With the reinforcement of defender Wagner Leonardo in the middle of one of the organized crowds, the red and black fans raised their voices when Neris scored the only goal of the match. Lucas Arcanjo, against, left the Red and Whites apprehensive, but Alerrandro made the score 2-1 at the end of the game.

With the result of 2×1, Vitória reaches 35 points and momentarily takes 14th place in the Brasileirão. With the two positive results achieved at home, Leão will need to travel to face Athletico-PR next Saturday (2). The clash takes place at 6:30 pm, at the Ligga Arena.

Hero of the victory against Red Bull Bragantino last weekend, striker Everaldo was the big news in the starting lineup of the team led by Thiago Carpini. In addition to the left winger, the coach promoted the entry of Willian Oliveira in the role of Luan Santos, as the midfielder was banned from the match after complaining of pain in his thigh.

With captain Wagner Leonardo cheering in the crowd, the match started with greater possession of the ball for the red and black team. Starting after the opponent, Leão made the first arrivals with Everaldo on the left side of the field. After just five minutes, Willian Oliveira fell inside the area and the referee awarded the penalty. In video review, bid void.

After the penalty was cancelled, the game was balanced with Fluminense taking advantage of triangulations on the right to bother the home team. However, even with the improvement of the Cariocas, Vitória maintained its offensive posture. Thiago Carpini’s men exploited transitions with speed to reach the opponent’s goal, while the Tricolors tried to put the ball on the ground and take advantage of Leão’s mistakes.

It was through this strategy that the locals almost managed to open the scoring at Barradão. In the 40th minute of the first half, Kauã Elias advanced from the edge and passed to Lima, at the edge of the area. The midfielder dominated and shot hard. The ball would have gone into the back of the net if goalkeeper Lucas Arcanjo had not deflected it and the post had not returned possession to the Vitória player.

Before the referee marked the end of the first half, Leão took advantage of the last chance to unbalance the score. In a free kick taken by Lucas Esteves on the right, defender Neris unmarked himself and appeared in the small area to deflect a header and put the red-blacks ahead of the game.

On the way back from the break, Mano Menezes removed midfielder Victor Hugo to bring forward Keno. With the change, Fluminense adopted a more offensive stance in the match, attacking the home team from the start. With control of the game, the Cariocas forced the Bahian team to retreat in order to defend themselves.

The improvement of the cariocas in the match was crowned with luck. In the 15th minute of the second half, Ryller made a poor clearance and the ball fell to Martinelli’s feet, who shot hard from outside the area. The ball exploded off the crossbar and deflected off Arcanjo’s back before finding the net.

In the 30th minute, Carpini’s men regained possession of the ball and balanced the match again. It was in this context that Matheuzinho was brought down inside the area and another penalty was awarded. From the kick, Alerrandro hit the ball high and put final numbers in the game.
