Afropunk Brasil will hold a historic edition on the 9th and 10th of November, at the Salvador Exhibition Park, to celebrate 20 years since the manifesto that gave rise to the platform. In addition to bringing singers to Bahia for the first time, Erykah Badu and Lianne La Havasthe event will also feature a structure that promises to surprise the public. Tickets cost between R$80 and R$608 and can be purchased through Sympla platform.
This year, the Gira and Agô stages will be a total of 100m wide and 15.60m high. Each of them has a presentation area of 280m² and brings an artistic concept inspired by African royalty, Yoruba temples, Afro-Brazilian ancestry and religiosity. “We translated the concept chosen for this edition into a palette with golden, earthy and white tones, with the idea that our festival is on another level, reaching the gold level. We want people to identify themselves, see themselves there and, in some way, feel like they belong, feel like kings and queens in this golden year of AFROPUNK,” says Larissa Lis, architect at Árclow, the agency that designed the festival’s scenography and architecture.
At the Arena, the public has a large space with a guaranteed front stage, as well as exclusive space for PCD and brand activations. The Lounge has its own accommodation structure, with expanded services, access to the front of the Gira stage, space for PCDs and brand activations.
In its last edition, Afropunk Brasil moved around R$19 million into Salvador’s economy. Among the attractions confirmed this year are Erykah Badu, Duquesa, Ilê Aiyê invites Virgínia Rodrigues, Irmãs de Pau invites Evylin, Jorge Aragão, Léo Santana, Melly and Planet Hempwho perform on Saturday (9). On Sunday (10), the shows are Lianne La Havas, Ebony, Fat Family sings Tim Maia, Larissa Luz, Mateus Fazeno Rock, Silvanno Salles and Timbalada.
