Accident between two buses leaves 40 injured in São Paulo

An accident involving two public transport buses on Rodovia Presidente Dutra left 40 people injured, ten moderately and 30 mildly, according to information from CCR RioSP. The occurrence was recorded on the night of Thursday, 24th, at km 222, towards Rio de Janeiro, in the Guarulhos region, in Greater São Paulo, towards Rio de Janeiro.
According to the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo, the driver of the bus that rear-ended another, as well as 26 other people, aged between 17 and 61, were taken to hospitals in the region. The other victims suffered minor injuries and were released.
The dealership was called around 8:30 p.m. The company mobilized teams to provide assistance on site, such as traffic inspection vehicles, an ambulance and a tow truck.
In addition, the Fire Department, Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) also attended the scene. The local road was closed for assistance, with full reopening an hour after the incident.
The causes of the accident will be investigated by the teams during the preparation of the report, according to the PRF. The case was registered as negligent bodily injury while driving a motor vehicle in the 1st DP of Guarulhos.
