Six-time Olympic track cycling champion, 48-year-old Briton Chris Hoy, revealed that he has terminal cancer. He discovered the disease after injuring his shoulder.
Hoy suffered an injury last year while lifting weights in a gym. Afterwards, the pain persisted and, upon investigating, he discovered the disease. According to information from Metrópoles, the primary prostate cancer has spread to bones in the body, such as the hip, pelvis, spine and ribs. The disease is in stage four.
“Most of the fight against cancer for me has not been physical. For me, it’s been in my head. At heart, I’m pretty positive most of the time and have genuine happiness. This is more important than the Olympic Games. It’s more important than anything. It’s about appreciating life and finding joy”, said the cyclist, in an interview with the Sunday Times newspaper.
