Dry skin presents symptoms such as roughness, a feeling of stiffness, peeling, itching and, in more severe cases, cracks and fissures. It may appear whitish or opaque and, when touched, loses its natural elasticity. This occurs when there is an excessive loss of water and essential oils from the outermost layer of the skin, which can be caused by the absence of rain and pollution. But that’s not all.
According to dermatologist Bruno Lages, from Clínica Otávio Macedo & Associados, facial dryness occurs due to several factors. “Dry weather is an aggravating factor, but also a lack of facial hydration, little water intake, sun exposure, excessive cleansing and inappropriate products can also cause the problem,” he says.
However, it is possible to leave your skin softer and more hydrated. “First of all, it’s good to know the difference between dry and dry skin. The first has this characteristic because it produces less oil, in general, due to genetic predisposition. Dry skin is a condition and, therefore, requires specific care”, says Bruno Lages.

Taking care of dry skin
Below, the doctor gives some recommendations to hydrate and make your skin more beautiful and soft. Check it out!
1. Be careful with soap
Choose mild soaps that do not irritate the skin. In general, liquids are less aggressive.
2. Don’t overdo the cleaning
Avoid washing your face too many times a day. If you need to clean your skin, a good option is micellar water;
3. Stay hydrated
Choose gel or cream products with active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced by the body and absorbs and retains water on the skin’s surface. Niacinamide is another ally. It enhances the synthesis of ceramides and helps hydrate the skin.
4. Consume more water
Drink plenty of water. This is the golden tip. The skin needs to be hydrated from the inside out;
5. Protect your skin from the sun
Avoid sun exposure and don’t forget your daily sunscreen.
