With Halloween approaching, it’s time to think beyond traditional costumes and opt for hairstyles that bring a difference to your look. Adno Moreira, hairstyle specialist and Keune Master Talent, shares ideas that allow you to reproduce impressive looks at home to rock this year’s parties. Check it out!
1. Feline costumes: kittens, lions and tigresses
For curly women, the hair expert suggests costumes and hairstyles that enhance the volume of the curls, like lions, kittens or tigresses. He recommends using a nourishing curl definer, which provides manageability, and a volumizing spray for the roots. Furthermore, the little ears can be made with your own hair, with the help of a high-holding spray.
- Start with clean hair and apply the definer to the curls. You can also use a finisher to help shape your hair, such as a spray wax;
- Separate four strands of hair: two on the right and two on the left, near the front of the head;
- If desired, braid each of these strands. For a more voluminous look, don’t pull the strands too much while braiding;
- After braiding, roll the braids into the shape of kitty ears and secure them with clips or elastics;
- Adjust the braids if you have them, and use some hairspray to ensure the style stays in place. If you want, add a cat accessory to complete the look.
2. Medusa
The Medusa costume is a classic from the world of mythology and a great option for long, curly, wavy or straight hair. For this hairstyle, Adno recommends the use of finishers that help to shape and add volume.
- Start with clean, dry hair. The tip is to apply a texturizing spray or a little water to moisten the hair;
- Apply a good amount of mousse throughout your hair. This will help create volume;
- Then, braid or twist each part of your hair. For a more dramatic look, you can make thicker braids or leave your hair messy;
- To simulate snakes, wrap the braids around your head, like a crown. Secure with clamps as necessary, ensuring that they are securely in place;
- Use hairspray to make your hairstyle last. If you have snake accessories, place them between your braids or around your head.
3. Joker

The Joker icon never loses its majesty. To recreate this look, men will need a high-hold gel and, if desired, a green tinted spray. In addition, a brush and a hairdryer will come in handy to add volume to your hair.
- Start by applying a generous amount of gel throughout your hair;
- Then, with a brush, comb it back, creating a wet effect;
- To capture the essence of the Joker, leave your hair slightly messy: scrunch some strands for a casual touch;
- Finish with hairspray to ensure the style stays put throughout the night.
4. Cruella de Vil
For those with short hair, Cruella de Vil’s hairstyle is a perfect choice! For curly hair, simply apply mousse or a leave-in to activate the curls and give more definition. You can also use embedding sprays.
“If you want an extra touch, use colored paint sprays to achieve the two-tone effect that characterizes Cruella’s look. As for straight hair, keep the part clearly marked in the middle, I recommend spray wax to make the strands even softer and easier to style, and finish with a touch of shine for a radiant effect”, advises the hairdresser.
- Separate your hair into two parts: one side should be black and the other side white. If you don’t have hair in these colors, use temporary spray or dye to create the effect;
- If you have curly hair, put mousse or gel on your hair, especially at the back. This will help give that dramatic Cruella look;
- In the case of straight hair, you can just apply a spray wax and a shine spray to leave your strands radiant. A volumizing spray or even mousse, especially at the roots, is a great option to create an even more structured look;
- If you want to secure it, on the white side, make a high bun or a ponytail. On the black side, you can choose to leave it loose or also make it into a bun.
5. Vampires

A basic but glamorous look, the classic vampire costume can be given a special touch with laid-back, impactful waves. “To create these waves, you can use rollers, which provide a natural and relaxed effect. Finish with a texturizing spray, to add volume and definition, and fixatives”, comments Adno.
- First of all, apply a supreme preparation cream and then apply the texturizing spray;
- You can also apply a generous amount of foam to your hair, distributing it well with your fingers. This will help create volume and definition in the waves;
- To curl, take small sections of hair and roll them onto rollers, ensuring each section is the same thickness for an even result. Roll in the direction you prefer (outwards or inwards) to vary the effect;
- Leave the rollers in your hair for at least 1 hour or until your hair is completely dry. For an even longer lasting effect, you can leave them on for longer;
- With your hair loose, use your fingers to loosen and separate the waves, creating a more natural effect and finish with the same spray as at the beginning.
