Ten thousand marijuana plants were destroyed this Wednesday (23) in a police operation on a farm in the municipality of Pilão Arcado, in northern Bahia.
The action was carried out by military police officers from the 25th Independent Company (CIPM) in conjunction with the Civil Police.
When questioned by CORREIO, the police authorities did not say how they discovered the plantation or who owned the land where it was found. No one was arrested.
The commander of the 25th CIPM, Major Lizandro, celebrated the result of the project: “It is the result of hard work, a lot of dedication from all the police officers involved. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the population of Pilão Arcado”, he stated.
A sample of the material was collected for presentation at the municipal police station, where the incident was registered.
Occurrences in the north of the state
In August of this year, another plantation was incinerated by the police also in the north of the state, in the city of Curaçá. More than 11 thousand marijuana plants were found in the rural area of the municipality.
A month earlier, in July, Curaçá had already been the target of another operation that resulted in the burning of 8,300 trees of the same plant. At the time, no one was arrested in either case. With the two finds, there are almost 20 thousand plants incinerated in the city alone.
